Our comparison method
The ranking rules every partner inherits: no dark patterns, no paid placement. Here's exactly how a result gets to the top of the page.
Regional pricing
UK energy prices vary by distribution region. The engine maps each customer postcode to its DNO area (A–P) and prices every tariff for that region rather than showing a national average.
Annual cost modelling
Each quote is (unit rate × annual kWh) + (standing charge × 365), per fuel, inclusive of VAT at 5%. Results are ranked by that total, not by unit rate alone.
Usage inputs
Real kWh figures from a customer's statement are used exactly as given. Otherwise the engine applies Ofgem's Typical Domestic Consumption Values for a low, medium or high usage household.
Exit fees and contract length
Exit fees per fuel and contract length appear on every result, so a partner's agents can evidence the cost of leaving early. Nothing is hidden behind a click.
Ranking and commercial neutrality
Results are ordered by estimated annual cost. Partners bring their own supplier contracts and commissions; the platform never lets commercial terms reorder or reprice results.
Data sources
Tariff data comes from the market feed and is cached briefly for speed.
